Set up Braze messages for Jacquard

For Braze marketers. Add the Jacquard Connected Content block and variables to emails and push messages.

Placeholders: example values (for example names in code) and values in angle brackets are account-specific. Your Jacquard contact provides them.

Existing customers: don’t change existing messages. Use this guide for new touchpoints only.

Message setup

For the team that builds Braze campaigns and Canvases.

Prerequisites
- Technical setup complete, including the block for this touchpoint.
- Touchpoint created (or imported) and content approved in Jacquard.
Get the details
From the touchpoint’s Connect tab: block reference and variable names.

Add the block
At the top of the email body:

```
Replace copy with variables
In each Jacquard-controlled part, for example:

{{jq_subject_line}}
```
- Use the exact names from the Connect tab.
- Every selected part needs its variable. Deselect parts you don’t want Jacquard to control.
Subject line and preheader
Add the block reference at the start of each field, then the variable. Braze renders these separately from the body.
Personalisation
If Jacquard content uses attributes such as first name, they must exist on your users.
Save
Campaigns: save. Canvases: save and publish.

Skip if Jacquard only optimises email.

Add the block
At the start of the message field:

```
Replace copy with variables
For example {{jq_push_title}}. If the title is optimised, add the block reference at the start of the title field too.
Test
Send to a test device. Check nothing is truncated.

Preview and test
Use Preview & Test, then send a test. All Jacquard-controlled parts should show Jacquard copy.
Activate in Jacquard
Approve the experiment plan and activate the touchpoint.
Launch in Braze
Launch the campaign or publish the Canvas.

Blank part or fallback copy

Block reference must be at the top with the exact name. Variable names must match the Connect tab.

Blank subject line or push title

Add the block reference at the start of that field.

Block preview shows an error

Ask your admin to check the credential and block.
