How the triggered email Adobe workflow works

Updated over a week ago

Jacquard's triggered message experiments is our method of adding AI copywriting to automated trigger responses. Once a customer activates a trigger you've set up (e.g. welcome emails, abandoned shopping cart, etc.), we send a unique message crafted with Jacquard's AI.

We then analyse our response rates, test more messages and get better and better as time goes on.

All you have to do is set it up and let Jacquard take care of the rest. We’ll send you updates on how things are going and you can contact us whenever necessary.

The process uses the following standard Adobe activities.

Enrichment

This activity adds the data fields we need to track the performance of the subject lines to the recipients entering the process.

These fields are language_variant_id, mab_batch_id, campaign_id and project_id

They are also used by the Jacquard’s open tracking pixel that needs to be added to the body of the email.

GetBatchProperties

This is a JavaScript activity where Adobe asks Jacquard 2 things

  1. To send the subject lines to be tested

  2. Tell us how many subscribers should get each language variant.

Jacquard then replies with those variants to the correct number of subscribers using the fields added above in the enrichment. It needs to be configured with the correct Jacquard experiment ID, if you're unsure where to get this, click here.

Delivery

This is the standard delivery activity that send out the emails.

We’ve added a few advanced options that allow us to change and test the subject line to the best language variant.

ListUpdate

This records the audience, and the Jacquard data fields to a list to use later on to gather statistics about each variant's performance to return to Jacquard. It needs to be configured to save the Lists into the Jacquard Lists folder created during the Getting Started step.

ListExpiry

This is an optional activity to set an expiry date to the newly created List. This automates the housekeeping of the Jacquard Lists folder, but is known to have some issues in Oracle systems. Alternatively, this step can be removed and old lists can be deleted manually from the folder on a regular basis.

How It Works

Once a triggered message experiment is set up in Adobe, we’ll have turned your launch button into a magic button. You can click it once, and everything else will fall into place.
