Follow these steps to set up the workflow snippet for your Jacquard broadcast experiment

Updated over 5 months ago

For every Jacquard experiment you want to execute in Adobe Campaign Standard, you'll have to create a new workflow from the template you imported and then add some information to the preconfigured steps.

Create a new workflow

Let's start by creating a fresh workflow from the template you imported.

Just as you normally would to create a workflow in Adobe Campaign Standard, navigate to the Marketing activities tab and click Create.

Click Workflow.

Choose Jacquard Broadcast Template and click Next.

In the Properties tab, give your workflow a unique label and click Create.

Great! Now, we're ready to add our unique experiment information to the workflow.

Add your Jacquard Experiment ID to the external API steps

Once you've created your experiment in Jacquard and approved your language, you can go to the kebab menu to find and copy your experiment ID.

Back in your new workflow, paste the experiment ID in the three external API steps. You can see their location in the workflow below.

Double-click to open the activity and then click on the Execution tab. Paste over the {campaign_id} placeholder.

Click Confirm when you're finished and repeat this step for the other two external API activities.

Select your audience

You'll need to edit the Select subscribers step near the front of the workflow.

This is a simply query activity where you can use drag and drop criteria available in Adobe Campaign Standard to choose what subscribers you'd like to target for this experiment.

Open the activity and use the drag and drop interface to target your subscribers. Click Confirm when you're finished.

For more information on how to leverage the query activity, check out this article from Adobe.

Adjust your test segment size

Once you've created your experiment and approved the language in Jacquard, you'll notice a box on the final panel of the experiment wizard called Split calculation.

In that box, note the percentage listed. In the example below, you'll see the percentage in 33.

We're going to use that percentage to query your test population.

Just after the Select subscribers step, find the step called Split into test and remainder and open it.

In the Segments tab that opens, hover over the segment labeled Test and then click the Edit properties icon. It looks like a pencil.

In the Limitation panel that opens, type the percentage from Jacquard in the text field under Size (as a % of the population) and click Confirm twice.

Select your email and add the Phrasee Variant dynamic field as the Subject

Finally, you'll need to choose your email in both of the Phrasee experiment email steps in the workflow. This process is exactly the same for both.

Open the email activity and an email wizard will open. In the Send type panel, choose Recurring email.

Then, select No aggregation from the dropdown and click the radio button next to Add an outbound transition with the population. Click Next.

In the Creation mode panel, choose Send via email. Click Next.

Give your email a label in the Properties panel and click Next.

In the Content panel, choose whichever editor you're more comfortable with for adding your HTML.

Email Designer

If you've selected Use the Email Designer, you can then simply click on Subject at the top of the designer window.

In the Properties tab that opens, click in the Subject field's text box. Then, click on the Insert personalization field icon.

Under the Add Personalization Field drawer, find and open the Additional data (targetData) collection. Then, double-click on Phrasee - Variant Text (variantText). This will populate the Subject field with the correct custom variable.

Click Close. You'll now see your Subject field is populated correctly. Save your email and repeat this process for the second Phrasee experiment email step.

Use legacy editor

If you've selected Use the legacy editor, click on the pencil icon to the right of the text field labeled Subject in the editor.

In the Subject editor that opens, click Insert personalization field.

Locate and expand the Additional data (targetData) collection and click Phrasee - Variant Text (variantText). Then, click Confirm.

Click Confirm again and finish configuring your email as you normally would. Then, click Create.

Minimum setup complete

That's all it takes to get your workflow snippet prepared. At this point, you can add additional steps before or after the workflow snippet if you wish or you can simply schedule it or run it as is to deploy your emails.
